Got this massive double yolker in a batch of free-rangers from the local farm.
At 120 grams (what are those?) it broke the farm record and the hen's ringpiece.
It made an excellent omelette.
The hen's eyes are still watering.

Chaffinch Rampage

This story reminded my of the time that a mad brother chaffinch attacked my beloved shed.

I was sitting inside contemplating life, the universe and the price of plums when I heard a violent ratatatat on the window. I looked up to see a colourful male chaff trying to gain entrance by breaking and entering with his beak.
I shooed him away but he insisted on coming back with further attacks of chaffinch vandalism.
Eventually, I had to admit defeat and put a black curtain up at the window to stop him injuring himself.
Now it turns out he thought he was attacking another male on his territory.
Us chaffs can be pretty territorial. Well you try getting in my shed.
